Build radon protection in from the ground up

New Brunswick is expected to adopt the 2025 National Building Code in January 2027, with new radon requirements for every new home. Whether you're building your dream home or dozens of homes a year, we'll help you meet the new code, and turn a minimum requirement into real value.

Who we work with

Building your own home

Planning your dream home? Talk to us before the floor is poured. We'll work with your builder so radon protection is designed in from day one, not added later.

Home builders

Our Builder Program helps you meet the new code on your schedule, with two options to choose from.

Passive or active

As of January 2027, these are your options

Passive stack (code minimum)

A pipe from under the slab up through the roof, with no fan.

  • Needs a straight, vertical path to be effective at reducing radon
  • Complicated pipe runs
  • Schedule 40 pipe required
  • Insulation requirements in the attic to prevent condensation
  • Pipe protection and pressure testing requirements
  • Coordination with your roofer
  • No guaranteed result
Active system (recommended)

A complete active system, installed by C-NRPP certified professionals.

  • Less pipe, and a more flexible route
  • No attic insulation or pipe protection needed
  • Monitored for its first 12 months with Radon Shield™ MONITOR*
  • Guaranteed below 100 Bq/m³ for those 12 months*, and for as long as the homeowner keeps a MONITOR or MANAGE plan

*Special introductory offer for builders who sign up before the 2027 build season. Full terms are included with your quote.

Radon Shield™ MONITOR

Turn the cost of a code change into a selling feature

The new code adds cost to every home. Instead of paying for a passive pipe with no guaranteed result, you can offer guaranteed radon reduction: an active system installed by a C-NRPP certified professional.

With Radon Shield™ MONITOR, we watch your homeowner's radon levels for the first 12 months*, send them a monthly report, and guarantee their levels below 100 Bq/m³ for those 12 months.

Every home also gets a homeowner handout: “Your builder built in more than code requires.”

*Special introductory offer for builders who sign up before the 2027 build season. Full terms are included with your quote.

Two options

Two options for our new construction clients

Full Service

We do it all, in three visits.

  1. Underground (after the plumber, before the slab): collector laid under the slab, stub up through the slab.
  2. Exhaust rough-in (after framing, before insulation): pipe out through the rim joist, hole sealed so insulation and drywall can go ahead.
  3. Install and activate (house closed up, before flooring): pressure field test, fan sized and installed, U-tube, labels and homeowner certificate.
Partner in Radon

Your crew does the underground. We finish it.

  1. Underground, by your crew (before the slab): with CRNCH training or our design. You send us photos before the pour.
  2. System install and exhaust (after framing, before insulation): pipe from your stub out through the rim joist, fan installed.
  3. Activation (house closed up, before flooring): pressure field test, fan sized and powered, U-tube, labels and homeowner certificate.

We size the fan and activate the system to meet and exceed the code minimum.

New construction questions

Is an active system allowed instead of passive?

Yes. An active system is an accepted alternative to a passive stack, but it must be installed by a C-NRPP certified mitigation professional.

What's the difference between Full Service and Partner in Radon?

With Full Service, we do it all, from the underground to activation. With Partner in Radon, your crew does the underground, with CRNCH training or our design. We install the pipe and exhaust, size the fan, and activate the system to meet and exceed the code minimum.

I'm building my own home. Can you work with my builder?

Yes. Book a meeting with Jeff and bring your plans. We'll work with your builder so your radon system is planned before the floor is poured.

Can my crew be trained to do the underground?

Yes. CRNCH (Controlling Radon in New Canadian Homes) training is available for your installers, in person and online.

Will this hold up my schedule?

No. We've worked with one builder for 5+ years and fit right into their build schedule.

What do my trades handle?

We'll supply all the information you need to meet the radon code, including the gas-permeable layer, the sealed sub-slab air barrier, and sealing of cold joints and penetrations.
